Sometimes designers are so much smarter than me it is embarrassing.
Yesterday, I was grappling with a complex piece of communication that has to be presented on one simple page. It had some key ‘big’ elements that overlap (but my trademark Venn- diagram-default-in-time-of-crisis failed) and several layers of audience complexity.
David Stocks, a Client Partner and one of the S’s in SAS, and a designer by birth, quietly suggested I think about the problem in 3-D, rather than 2-D. (He spent some time training RAF pilots how to fly, so 3-D is probably more or less always embedded in his thinking).
I can’t share the results, but they are both inspiring and stunning.
Maybe designers are the new management consultants.
